Aquatics Coordinator Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County 2 reviews – Nashville, TN $42,083 a year – Full-time, Part-timeThis position is with the Parks and Recreation and is responsible for planning and organizing aquatic programs for a variety of age groups, including scheduling and instructing aquatic classes. The position often requires working evenings and some weekends, and works in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Employees must be physically capable of participating in aquatic activities. Employees should also be proficient in the ability to use computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite. Typical Duties: Supervising full-time, part-time & seasonal employees.Handles hazardous chemicals and performs chemical analysis of pool.Performing administrative duties.Assigns classes and special projects to staff members.Inventories and requisitions equipment and supplies.Evaluates instructors and programs for effectiveness.Supervising facility and patrons, maintaining order, and enforcing discipline procedures.Completes and reviews financial transactions, time cards, leave requests, payroll, and records of activities.Administering basic first aid in cases of minor injury.Performing various repairs, maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure high standards of facility cleanliness and operational equipment, and submits request for equipment and repairs.Performing standard life guarding duties for swimmers using aquatic facilitiesMaintaining Pools in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations which include maintaining pool water chemistry, cleaning locker rooms, operating pressure washer, vacuuming and backwashing pools, cleaning pool area, emptying trash, repairing swim meet timing equipment, etc.Organizing set up and operating swim meets.Teaching American Red Cross classes to employees and patrons.Works closely with outside organizations for special events and permitting.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field from an accredited college or university, plus two (2) years experience teaching swimming or first-aid. OR Two (2) years of college (60 Semester Hours) plus four (4) years experience teaching swimming or first-aid. OR High School Diploma plus eight (8) years increasingly responsible experience teaching and/or coordinating organized swimming activities. LICENSE REQUIRED: Valid Driver License American Red Cross Certifications: Lifeguard training – CPR for the Professional Rescue, Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Certifications as Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO)Experience supervising a community recreation facilityExperience overseeing the development and implementation of a variety of programs within a multi-use facilityExperience in the selection, development, and training of staffKnowledge of business operations and cash handling procedures and the ability to develop and manage annual operating budget.
