Aquatics Program Instructor – Swimming The YMCA of Orange County – Mission Viejo, CA Part-timeAquatics Program Instructor – Swimming Part Time – Non Exempt *Must be available to work varied shifts weekdays from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm as well as occasional Saturday mornings.* Be Part of Our Cause The YMCA of Orange County staff are committed to teaching youth positive life skills, values and the importance of giving back. Each day, we work side-by-side with others to strengthen the foundations of our communities. POSITION OVERVIEW: To provide swim instruction to members and ensure their safety. DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide safe and effective swim instruction to members and participants.Actively promote the swim program.Record swim lesson information.Perform pool safety duties as needed.Ensure safe environment by performing routine pool maintenance tasks and operations.Report all safety-related incidents promptly and accurately.Ensure quality member service to all members and participants at all times.Follow and enforce safety standards and all other policies and procedures.Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED SKILLS: Completion of in-water swimming and skills test required.Must have in customer service and aquatics.Knowledge of health and fitness, and childcare required.Skill and background in life guarding and survival skills.Excellent verbal communication skills.Strong customer service and results orientation.Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.Ability to be an effective member of project teams.PREFERRED SKILLS: Prefer recognized Swim Instructor or Water Safety Instructor certificationFirst Aid, CPR, and YMCA, Red Cross or other nationally-recognized Lifeguard certifications.1 year+ experience as a Swim Instructor.High School Diploma or equivalent.ABOUT US: At the YMCA, strengthening community is our cause.
