REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. High School graduate or GED is required. 2. American Red Cross or Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training Certification, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescue, USA Master or USA Coach Certification. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 1. Swim lesson instruction and water exercise instruction. 2. Familiar with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels and other Red Cross water safety courses and know how to use course materials effectively. Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Create and implement a program that can meet the diverse needs of participants, namely competitive swimming (both pool and open water swimming), non-competitive physical fitness swimming, improvement of stroke technique, triathlon training, etc. 2. Know and understand the Kroc Center Hawaii Aquatics program, including classes, swimming levels, skills taught in each level, and the requirements for passing each level. 3. Evaluate students and recommend appropriate classes for their skill levels. 4. Provide corrective and positive feedback to students to ensure learning and a positive atmosphere. 5. Cover all materials required in a class. Complete student evaluations, reports and records. Maintain confidentiality of all information and documents received. 6. Have all instructional equipment ready before lessons begin and put all equipment away at the end of lessons. 7. Communicate regularly with participants and parents. 8. Recognize distressed swimmers and provide the necessary assistance. 9. Know, understand and enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations. 10. Never leave students unattended. 11. Maintain a positive rapport and image with students, members and guests. 12. Keep the facilities clean, including pool, pool area, and locker rooms. 13.
