Head Swim Team Coach McCrorey YMCA – Charlotte, NC $10.85 – $13.57 an hour – Part-time

General Function :Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator / Director and in accordance with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for coaching swim teams according to YMCA of the USA program standards, principles, and by-laws for any league to which the teams belong.Principal Activities :Responsible for the growth and development of the Swim TeamCreate a positive learning environment through personal enthusiasm and building team spiritBe safety-conscious, maintain order and enforce rules during practices and meets to ensure swimmer safety and respectKeep accurate records of attendance and skills and times achieved by each swimmerProvide each student with written records of progress and recognition of improvementHold coaches meetings focused on staff and volunteer development and program organization Coach practices and Swim MeetsCommunicate effectively with parents about practice and meet schedules and other detailsResponsible for swim team data entry into team and meet manager data systemCoordinate program evaluation process.Coordinate parent/volunteer involvement in the programCoordinate Annual Swim Team Community Support CampaignSecure community sponsorshipsCoordinate end of season celebration and awardsCarries out additional duties as assigned by supervisorKnow How :Must be at least 18 years of ageAt least 3 years experience with Swim Teams/Swim Lessons, 2 of which in a coaching capacityPrior to first shift, to be renewed annually:Professional Level CPRFirst AidAutomatic External Defibrillator (AED)Oxygen AdministrationMust complete the following trainings before working first shift and are to be renewed annually: Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention.Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Connection prior to employment_Must complete I Create Loyalty Training within 30 days of hire_Current YMCA Lifeguard certification within 60 days of hireObtain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification within 60 days of hireObtain Principles of YMCA Competitive Swimming and Diving within 6 months of hireObtain proficiency in Hytek Team Manager and Meet Manager within 90 days of hire or prior to first meetMust have good knowledge of competitive swim techniques and training methods.Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skillsMust be able to work effectively with swimmers and adult volunteers
