Head Swim Team Coach YMCA Cape Cod – West Barnstable, MA 02668 $13.26 – $20.42 an hour – Part-time

Position Summary:Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, this position provides direct leadership for the development, implementation, organization, and supervision of the competitive swim team program.Essential Functions:Directs, schedules, supervises, and delivers program and swim team activities. Monitors program registrations and participant records.Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling, and supervising staff and volunteers. Assists with reviewing and evaluating performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.Responsible for building positive relationships with swim team parents. Maintain regular communications with all parents as appropriate.Responsible for building positive relationships with swim team parents. Maintain regular communications with all parents as appropriate.Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.Interacts and maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, campers, parents and staff; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Models positive relationship-building skills in all interactions.Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes reports as necessary.Ensures that accurate attendance records are maintained if necessary.Assists with promotion and marketing of program(s).Maintains required certifications.Attends staff meetings and trainings.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:High School/GED required with some college preferred.Minimum age of 21Three or more years of competitive coaching experience.USA Swimming Coach certification required; ASCA Level II certification must be obtained within first six months of employment.Certifications: YMCA Waterfront Lifeguarding or Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid certification.Excellent human relation skills, good organizational and communication skills.Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.Physical Demands:Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position.Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.Job Type: Part-timeSalary: $13.26 to $20.42 /hourRequired experience:Coaching: 3 years
