Full Time Aquatic Manager

Job Description

Full-Time, 40 hours Per Week

· Minimum 9 hours (3+ shifts AM or PM) per week of Deck Supervision

· At least 2 shifts teaching swim lessons per week (AM/PM or SAT)

· 2-3 hours per week for meeting time with GM

· 2-8 hours per week training and conducting instructor assessments. Time based on demand

Aquatic Manager Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership and management of swim instruction staff and Water Safety Program. Maintenance of pool and water quality.

Aquatic Manager Requirements:

· AT-MWSI Certified

· Recommended Pool Operator Certification

· Saturdays

· The Aquatic Manager’s day off is the least busy day in the school

Aquatic Manager Job Objective:

· Lead and manage Aquatic Staff to consistently provide swim lessons that adhere to the Aqua-Tots Quality Assurance standard and monitor lesson progression

Scheduling/Staffing

· Directly responsible to hire, train, review, coach and discipline aquatic staff

· Staff evaluations & co-teaching 1-2 per instructor per week (depending on instructor scores)

· Create, maintain and review instructor schedules

· Oversee substitute instructors and resolve scheduling conflicts

· Anticipate staffing needs

Training/Evaluations

· Conduct a minimum of 2 AT-WSI courses per year, and ensure all AT-MWSI meet certification requirements

· Implementation of Aqua-Tots curriculum and teaching philosophies

· Schedule and conduct hiring and training of aquatic staff

· Directly responsible to ensure performance evaluations of all swim instructors

· Develop the next generation of excellent swim instructors for Aqua-Tots

· Conduct aquatic staff evaluations and coaching based off the recommended evaluation timeline

· Oversee meetings and communication to swim staff

· Schedule monthly in-services and choose the in-service topic for the month

· Select and oversee the AT-MWSI who leads the in-service training

Customer Service

· Follow and implement Aqua-Tots Swim Schools customer service guidelines to ensure an exceptional customer experience for every customer

· Ensure quality and progression of lessons

· Communicate effectively with potential and existing customers

· Build relationships with families, know their names and their children’s names

· Handle aquatic customer concerns using the AQUA method, providing a win/win outcome

· Respond to parents within 24 hours of any reported instructor performance concern and keep accurate record in the instructor file.

· Use the customer-focused principle in each customer interaction

· Report unresolved aquatic complaints to General Manager

Master Water Safety Instructor

· Maintain a CURRENT AT-MWSI Certification (certification provided by Aqua-Tots)

Minor Incident

· Coordinate and manage pool operations- implementing local State/County Health Department standards guidelines

Daily Duties

· Supervise and support aquatic staff

· Oversee all swim instructor schedules – facility and satellite locations.

· Lead the aquatic staff in daily operations

· Follow and complete Opening and Closing the Pool checklist

· Monitor In Water Evaluations

· Manage swim instructor performance issues and instructor specific concerns

· Create daily shift announcements – include upcoming In Water Evals, birthdays, parents issues/concerns, class issues/concerns, students in classes over 90 days

· Coordinate and manage pool operations- implementing local State/County Health Department standards

· Monitor deck supervisors

Weekly Duties

· Aquatic scheduling/adjustments made with GM

· Meeting with Office Manager/GM

· Complete AM Weekly Reports and turn in to GM

· Monitor aquatic staff -90% attendance policy

· Monitor and manage staff evaluations

· Report In Water Evaluation enrollment percentage and In Water Evaluation non-enrolls to GM

· Conduct AT-WSI Assessments

Monthly Duties

· Coordinate bi-annual evaluations on instructors

· Labor projections and staffing with GM

· Schedule training and instructor recruitment

· Monitor budget and expenses with GM

· Lead monthly aquatic in-service meetings
