Aquatics Director

Spend your summer basking in the sun as the Aquatics Director at Eden Village West! In this vibrant role, you’re not only responsible for ensuring water safety at the camp’s pool and the river but also for leading a range of exciting and educational water-based programs. You’ll step into a leadership position, honing your skills as an educator and group leader, as you supervise, train, and empower a team of about 7 lifeguards. Your team will be instrumental in maintaining the safety of all waterfront areas and in orchestrating various aquatic activities for campers of all ages, every day.

About Eden Village West

Eden Village West is an organic farm-to-table residential Jewish camp in Sonoma County, California with a 6-week overnight summer program as well as other farm programming throughout the spring and fall. Our campers enjoy farming, wilderness and homesteading skills, culinary arts, music, and sports as they become empowered to promote a more environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually connected world for all.

Aquatics Director Requirements

  • At least 2 years of waterfront safety experience at a management level
  • Proper certifications (Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be enthusiastic, excited to try new things, generous, willing to be silly, flexible, creative, caring, and able to maintain a positive team attitude throughout a full work day

Aquatics Director Expectations

  • Implement (and develop when necessary) waterfront safety protocol
  • Train camp aquatics staff in waterfront safety protocol during staff training
  • Supervise, and run meetings with, camp lifeguards 
  • Running swim checks for campers at the beginning of each session
  • Set up a waterfront check in / out system
  • Communicate pool maintenance with campus staff
  • Act as a program specialist for water-based activities at the pool and river

Dates: June 4th – August 1st (with an opportunity to extend at Eden Village Camp in New York!)

Starting Compensation: $4,800 (DOE) + Room and Board (if needed)

Time Off: All staff receive one 24-hour day off per week, and at least 1 hour off every day
