Job Summary
The Y is looking for an energetic, outgoing team player to fill the position of Associate Aquatics Director to assist with the swim lesson operations and lead the swim team. The Associate Aquatics Director serves as the head swim team coach and is responsible for the administering of department programs and activities including scheduling and staff development of the swim lesson instructors. As one of the faces of our Aquatics Program the ideal candidate will be known by members and program participants as a positive, friendly and helpful.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Senior Program Director in the operations of the Aquatics Department, Swim Lessons, and Swim Team; including operations, maintenance, and safety guidelines.
  2. Organize and lead the swim team practices and meets. Contribute to the growth of the swim team, and communicate with parents regularly.
  3. Assist in the recruitment, development, and supervision of part-time staff and volunteers as needed.
  4. Ensure a safe and positive environment for the swimmers and swim team members to succeed in program goals.
  5. Help with program development, marketing, statistics and budgeting.
  6. Support the leadership team in YMCA fundraising activities and special events where applicable.


  1. Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma/equivalent, and a valid driver’s license.
  2. Ability to work evening and weekend hours.
  3. Two to three years of related lifeguard, swim team, swim lesson, or aquatics program experience.
  4. Current Lifeguard Certification; LGI Certification preferred.
  5. Ability to relate to, welcome and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
