MARGATE — The Beach Patrol recently held its annual Junior Lifeguard program for children ages 6 to 13. Activities included simulated rescues, paddle boards, beach flags, tug-o-war, obstacle courses and boat rides. There were two sessions: July 10 to 13 with about 80 participants and July 24 to 27 with about 125 participants.On the last day of each camp session, the Margate Lifeguard Association held barbecues that raised money for Walshy’s Warriors, an organization that supports Recreation Department employee and Holy Spirit High School football coach Bill Walsh, who was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. The association supplied all the hot dogs and hamburgers hungry campers could eat and parents of campers donated $1,030 to help Walsh with his medical expenses. READ MORE…
