Position: Lifeguard IIReports to: Aquatics DirectorSalary: $12-13.00 Hourly Part-timePosition Summary:Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the lifeguard is responsible for the safety of members and participants in and around the aquatic facility. Prevent potential accidents by adhering to policies set forth by the American Red Cross and the JCC Aquatics team for members and non-members of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, Friedenberg Olympic Pool.
Essential Duties:Directly oversees other lifeguard I staff in the absence of the Lead LifeguardOversees weekend and evening shifts in the absence of supervisor staffOversee the set-up of the pool for programs and events in the absence of supervisor staffRespond to emergencies and complaints, resolve problems when they arise, execute disciplinary action if necessary, and notify the appropriate personnel or supervisors.Know pool rules and educate participants of themSupervise the Aquatic Facilities in the absence of supervising staff.Other Duties:Perform opening/closing dutiesPerform appropriate rescues when necessaryAttend in service trainings as scheduledParticipate in random and scheduled lifeguards drillsPerform pool related maintenance dutiesComplete additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:High School diploma or GEDCurrent Certificates required- American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First-Aid certification, American Red Cross Oxygen Administration, American Red Cross Blood Pathogen, American Red Cross CPR/AED for the professional rescuer.Note: All Certificates Must be submitted along with applicants resume, front and back images are required of each document.Responsible to keep all licenses up to date.A minimum of 2 years lifeguarding experience; 1 plus years staff supervisory experience preferred.Physical Demands :Ability to perform all American Red Cross Lifeguarding skills and CPR/AEDAbility to communicate in a polite and courteous mannerAbility to perform successfully the lifeguard skills checklist on a quarterly basis.Ability to see and hear individuals and alarms in pool/pool area.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.Ability to lift 30 lbsAbility to pull pool covers ranging 30-50lbsMust be able to work a split shift some weekends and some holidays as necessary.Job Type: Part-timeSalary: $12.00 /hourRequired education:High school or equivalentRequired experience:lifeguarding: 2 years
