MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from High School or possession of a GED certification; and Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification; and Possession of a current American Red Cross CPR for the professional Rescuer Certification; and Possession of a current American red Cross First Aid certification. OR Must be 16 years of age and current High School student; and Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification; and Possession of a current American Red Cross CPR for the professional Rescuer Certification; and Possession of a current American red Cross First Aid certification.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Knowledge of applicable park regulations, ordinances, and beach rules. Knowledge of American Red Cross lifeguard training methods and techniques. Skill in American Red Cross Lifeguard techniques. Skill in adminstering CPR and First Aid. Skill in preparing and completing reports. Ability to read and understand job related materials. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to lift up to 75lbs. Ability to maintain a current American Red Cross Life guarding, CPR, and First Aid Certifications.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Note : The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Provides patron surveillance of swimming area and enforces park policies, procedures, and rules to ensure the safety and well being of the park patrons. Responds to distressed swimmers and drowning victims. Provides first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to patrons during emergencies. Maintains the beach grounds by rotovating beach sand, weed eating, and maintaining buoy lines and beach area. Performs maintenance such as painting, minor boardwalk repair, docks, fences, and other maintenance tasks. Cleans and resupplies restroom, shelters, and picks up ground trash. Performs other related duties as required.
