Full-time, Part-timeUnder the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor-Aquatics (FT) this position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Town of Parker’s Learn to Swim Program, part-time Water Safety Instructor employees, and coordinating aquatics programs. This position will also assist in special projects, event coordination, and assist with Aquatics and facility management, coordination and evaluation of various facilities and programs within the Aquatics division. An individual in this position must exercise a high degree of trust, integrity and confidence. This is a safety-sensitive position, exercising a high degree of discretion, trust, and confidence, responsible for administrative, supervisory, and professional work in the operation and maintenance of the aquatic facilities. Essential Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelors Degree in Recreation or closely related field preferable and two (2) years of increasing responsibility in Pool Management and operations. Current Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR certificates required. Water Park Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Training and Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certifications preferred. Swim lesson instructor experience preferred. Current Swim lesson instructor certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months is required. Current O2 administration, and pool/spa operation certificate (CPO or AFO) or the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months. A valid Colorado Driver License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire is required. A combination of education and experience to provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to manage a large number of staff who work a variety of hours and schedules. Management skills may include coaching, performance management documentation, conflict resolution, communication with staff and disciplinary action. Ability and willingness to work flexible and additional work hours as needed, including unfilled shifts, nights, weekends and holidays. Strong skills in prioritization, organization and multi-tasking. Knowledge of recreation philosophy, planning and administration. Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program. Skill in operation of necessary tools and equipment for pool maintenance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to plan and supervise the work of paid staff and volunteers. Ability to anticipate aquatic and/or recreational needs of the community and meet those needs through programming activities and special events. Ability to establish, develop, and maintain quality standards for programs and special events. Considerable knowledge of child labor and employment laws. Must have own transportation to access various facilities as needed. Ability to successfully complete a background check including but not limited to: criminal history search and drug screen is required. Additional Information: Work hours are typically 40 hours per week Sunday through Thursday; day, evening, weekend and/or holiday hours will be required.
