Splash Fest to cool off a crowd

Splash Fest, which has provided annual fun at the pools of the T.J. Davis Recreation Center for a decade, is returning soon.Between 1 to 4 p.m. July 26, anyone 16 or younger can beat the heat and get some exercise at the recreation center’s outdoor pool. Youth can enjoy the free event, and Aquatic Supervisor Megan Browder said those who attend can enjoy free swimming, win prizes and listen to music.“It’s just a great event,” Browder said. “They come to the pool for free, and enjoy the fun and just have a great time.”Some prizes youth can win include pool passes to the indoor or outdoor pools at the aquatic center, she said. In addition, the Roanoke Valley Community Health Initiative will be providing the food, consisting of fruits, popcorn and more.  READ MORE…
