The Deerwood Torpedoes are in search of an assistant coach for the 2017 Spring/Summer Season!The Deerwood Torpedoes is a summer recreational swim team for ages 3 to 18 years old. From novice to competitor, we strive for improvement and success for each of our swimmers. We value the growth of our swimmers individually, as well as a team, both in and out of the pool. We are both competitive and fun-loving!Serious applicants have reason for excitement:We have approximately over 100 eager swimmersDaily M-F swim practice responsibilities occur in the afternoon in May; and morning and afternoon in June/JulyThe team is well supported by very dedicated and hardworking parentsDST hosts 6 dual meets that support the community and is an excellent revenue source to help fund our team.There are many fun-filled social activities for swimmers, coaches and families throughout the season.We earn our membership by creating an exceptional team culture where swimmers, parents and coaches feel they are part of a supportive family: Our beliefs: * Youth sports are a platform for character development. * Our swimmers learn technique all summer long. * Swimmers should strive to make themselves, their teammates and the sport better. * Parents should focus on their children’s growth through life lessons. * Swimmers, parents and coaches must respect rules, opponents, officials, teammates and themselves.You’d be a great candidate if you hit many of these traits below: * You are enthusiastic about seeing your athletes improve as swimmers and people. * You put effort into every athlete regardless of talent or motivation. * You are punctual, detail-oriented and self-disciplined. * You believe in the power of positive reinforcement. * You are a student of stroke technique.Assistant CoachAble to coach and relate to all age groups.Ability to respect and take direction from Head Coach and perform in all areas including: pattern and mirror the practice plan of head coach.Ability to adjust and think on their feet.Willing to be in the water with the 8&U swimmers and enjoy this age group.Other skills: Team Unify, meet entry, timeliness, respectfulness and thoughtfulness in thinking through situations as they arise. Other responsibilities include directing pool set up and breakdown. Availability April 30 – early August. As well as Awards Night TBA.
