General Function:Provide a safe and extraordinaryexperience for members and guests.Develop group or individual sessions to help members meet their aquatic wellness goals.Abide by the Staff Code of Conduct and all aquatics standard operating procedures.Incorporate the youth development and healthy lifestyles objectives of the YMCA in your interactions with members, guests and staff.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully an employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Develop group or individual session plans to help meet aquatic wellness goals.Be prepared for group or individual sessions by setting up equipment and reviewing session plans.Coach only when a lifeguard is present and on duty.Submit completed paperwork on time.Attend National YMCA certification trainings and other trainings as they become available.Additional Information:It may be necessary to perform other duties as assigned.This position is considered to have a supervisory or disciplinary relationship over minors.Some responsibilities require you to be on-site prior to the start of the scheduled event in order to prepare for the event. Your supervisor will inform you if you are required to be on-site prior to a scheduled event. Any such requirement is considered paid time.Scheduling and Timecards You must punch in/out for your shift on the Kronos computer system (or timecard system at your Branch). If you miss a punch you must submit an adjustment form within 24 hours of the missed punch.You must approve your timecard at the end of each pay period.You are responsible for working your assigned hours. Failure to be on time or failure to show up for a scheduled shift will result in disciplinary proceedings.You are responsible for finding your own qualified substitute should you be unable to work your scheduled assignment. A shift change (sub) form must be completed and cleared by your supervisor.You must submit a written request at least 2 weeks before you wish to go on vacation or take a personal leave. Once approved by the Aquatics Director, you must find your own qualified substitutes.Work Environment:To perform this job successfully an employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
