Swim Team Assistant Coach Woodcliff Lake Lakers Swim Team – Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677 Part-time

GENERAL PURPOSE—–Assist swim coach in instruction and motivation of swim team participants. Assist swim coach in guiding swimmers, organizing practice sessions and meets. Expected to attend all swim meets and team functions throughout the season.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Assist in motivating and encouraging all swimmers, ranging in age from 5-17.Assist in daily workouts/exercises for group practices.Assist in teaching both beginner level swimmers & improve/correct more advanced swimmers techniques.Aid in recording and tracking daily swim practice attendance.Maintain all practice/meet equipment on a daily basis—kickboards, lock equipment boxes, etc.Assist if needed, in completing all line-ups for dual meets and league meet.Work closely and communicate with head coach daily.Support in organizing and preparing swimmers for their upcoming race events/lanes throughout all meets.Must be able to have fun!QUALIFICATIONS:2+ years as a competitive swimmer and 2+ years as teaching swim.Lifeguard Certification, First Aid/CPR/AED Certified.Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics.Ability to swim, demonstrate and teach all stroke techniques (freestyle, breast, butterfly, back).Ability to model correct stroke technique both inside and outside of the water to swimmers of all ability levels.Ability to instruct and observe swim participants in proper stroke techniques.Strong communications skills with both swimmers and parents.Strong organizational skills to assist in managing a roster of approximately 70 swimmers.Strong inter-personal skills – ability to communicate and work with children of all ages.A mature individual, with an enthusiastic and dynamic presence who demonstrates sports-like behavior.SUMMER SEASON SWIM TEAM (June-Early August)This is a part-time positon that includes approximately 15-20 hours per week of evening swim practices and meets (Monday-Friday), as well as swim clinics on two Saturday mornings in June. Plus additional non pool time for assisting in creating workouts and handling administrative details for swim meets. It is essential to be present at all team swim meets, clinics, and daily practices.Job Type: Part-time
