Qualifications Minimum of five years aquatic coaching experience. Experience teaching the fundamentals of swimming to youth preferred. CPR, National Pool and Water Park Lifeguard and Training Certificate required. Essential Duties 1. Schedule and conduct team practices. 2. Attend all swim meets and practices. 3. Communicate with participants, parents, coaches and representatives. 4. Represent Wheaton Park District at conference and team meetings. 5. Instruct participants in competitive swimming skills. 6. Maintain a safe environment and be responsible for safety of participants at practices and meets.7. Assist in hiring, training, supervising and evaluating of assigned staff and parent volunteers. 8. Attend coaches meetings. 9. Must follow, administer and implement Wheaton Park District policies and guidelines. Other Duties and Responsibilities Inventory all supplies and equipment. Set up and take down of swim meets. Wear appropriate Wheaton Park District attire. Psychological Considerations May feel stress while dealing with parents who have different competitive philosophies. Physical Demands Moving, set up, takes down of all swim meets and practice equipment. May be exposed to all weather conditions. May need to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance frequently. Cognitive and Safety Considerations Must be able to give directions, be organized and dependable, work well with children and show good safety awareness and judgment.
