YWCA Bergen County —- – Ridgewood, NJ Part-timeThis position provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for swim team participants and is expected to attend all swim practices and team functions. Responsible for creating and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the swim team participants.Key Responsibilities1. Create a thorough, age-appropriate workout focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, drills, etc.2. Lead structured practices throughout the season.3. Help to record all work-outs and track daily attendance.4. Engage parents and cultivate relationships to create a collaborative swim team environment.5. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for swim team participantsQualificationsEducation/Experience: 2+ years of experience as a college competitive swimmer; 2+ years swim coaching experience preferredLicensing and/or Certifications: Current WSI, LGT, CPR/ProRescuer, AED, and First Aid required. USA Swimming Coach or ASCA Level 1 preferredKnowledge:1. Knowledge of American Red Cross standards of water safety.2. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills in accordance with American Red Cross standards and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanicsSkills and Abilities:1. Detailed record keeping skills and capability to work independently.2. Proven communications (verbal, written, listening) and interpersonal skills.3. Ability to enforce rules and regulations, act quickly and remain calm in emergency situations.4. Demonstrates ability to provide excellent customer service and to set a leadership example5. Ability to work with a multigenerational and diverse group of members and staff.Physical Requirements: Walk, stand, climbing, stooping and kneeling; ability to swim anddemonstrate stroke techniques; lift and move equipmentTravel: Travel may be required between all YWCA Bergen County facilities sites.Job Type: Part-time
