City of San Diego – San Diego, CA 92101 $15.12 – $18.19 an hour – Full-time, Part-timeSWIMMING POOL MANAGER I CANDIDATES MUST APPLY BEFORE TAKING THE PERFORMANCE TEST. ONCE APPLICATIONS ARE APPROVED, CANDIDATES WILL BE NOTIFIED REGARDING THE SPECIFIC DATE, TIME AND LOCATION. Swimming Pool Manager I positions lead, evaluate and supervise the work of subordinates and volunteers; administer and teach swimming classes; perform pool maintenance; administer first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as needed; keep records and write reports; publicize and market new and existing aquatic programs; develop fund raising activities; plan and conduct special aquatic events; coordinate staffing schedules; conduct specialized staff training; provide information to the public about pool and facility regulations, policies and procedures; and perform other duties as assigned. NOTES:Swimming Pool Manager I employees may be assigned to portable community pools where they perform supervisory functions, or to permanent community pools where they act in a lead capacity under the supervision of a Swimming Pool Manager II or III.Prior to employment, all applicants MUST pass a pass/fail performance test. Should you fail any part of the performance test, only one retest will be permitted on the same test date.Swimming Pool Manager I employees are available primarily on a part-time basis and may be assigned to work on holidays as well as weekends and evenings.Swimming Pool Manager I employees must be available to work June through August as scheduled with NO vacation leave.California State Law requires all persons hired in these positions to obtain certificates in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training and re-qualify as required to retain employment.Swimming Pool Manager I employees must furnish and wear standard apparel prescribed by the Park and Recreation Department.Swimming Pool Manager I employees must take and pass a performance test periodically to retain employment.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: You must meet the following requirements on the date you apply, unless otherwise indicated. AGE : 18 years of age or older. EXPERIENCE : Six months of full-time experience as a Swimming Instructor, Assistant Manager or Manager of a swimming pool which provides an organized aquatic instruction program. CERTIFICATES : You must have ALL of the following valid certificates:American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid Certificate.American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response Certificate.American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certificate.American Red Cross CPR/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for Lifeguard Certificate or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED Essentials Certificate.NOTES:For information on certificate requirements, please check the following website for a listing of upcoming training classes: San Diego American Red Cross, http://www.sdarc.org/ (click on “Take a Class”).
