MONTAGUE — Destiny Parris wasn’t supposed to work the afternoon lifeguard shift on Aug. 17, but when she got a call to come in, she happily obliged. Little did the 15-year-old know that the lifeguard skills she learned just 17 days prior would be put to use while working at the High Point Country Club saving the life of a 31/2-year-old girl.As a practice, the guards rotate through their designated locations — two in the deep end and one in a chair by the shallow end.
