YMCA to offer lifeguard certification and refresher courses

Mar 28, 2017 ASHTABULA — The Ashtabula County YMCA, 263 W. Prospect Road, will host a lifeguard refresher course and a lifeguard certification course beginning in May.The American Red Cross Lifeguard Refresher Course will be 9 a.m.-6 p.m. May 13. Students must have a current Red Cross lifeguard certification to take this class. Upon successful completion of the course, students will renew their Red Cross certification in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding. The certification is valid for two yearsAnyone interested must register by May 11. Cost is $65 for Ashtabula YMCA members and $90 for program participants.The Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course will be 4-9 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays May 15-26. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive Red Cross certification in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding. An optional waterfront module will be offered on May 21 for an additional $20.Anyone interested must register by May 11. Cost is $165 for Ashtabula YMCA members and $210 for program participants. As with all YMCA programs, income-based financial assistance is available. All participants must be at least 15 years old.
