Aquatics Coordinator Princeton Family YMCA – Princeton, NJ 08540 $10 – $14 an hour – Part-timePrinceton Family YMCAJob Title: Aquatics CoordinatorFLSA Status: Part-time, 18-20 hours/weekReports to: Aquatics & Sports DirectorSalary: $10-$14/hourPosition Summary: Under the direction of the Aquatics & Sports Director, Senior Program Director and CEO of the Princeton Family YMCA, the Aquatics Coordinator assists in developing, organizing and implementing high quality YMCA aquatic programs. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for aquatics staff in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.This position requires evening and weekend availability.There is room for growth in hours, if desired.Essential Functions:Supervises aquatic program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service.Develop relationships with members and obtain regular feedback on programs. Recommend program enhancements to ensure that member needs are being met.Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool. Coordinate breaks and rotate staff.Teach a minimum of 15 hours during the summer season and 12 hours the remainder of the year.Reviews and evaluates staff performance.Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising pool area. Ensure no distraction or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress.Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.Assist in the delivery of aquatics programs, instructions and staff training’sMonitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.Maintains pool logs, pool updates and incident reports.Completes other related duties as assigned by Aquatics Director.Qualifications:1-2 years related experience preferredMust be at least 21 years of age.Maintain current certifications in the following:CPR and AED for the Professional RescuerFirst AidYMCA Lifeguarding or American Red Cross LifeguardingAbility to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.Must demonstrate lifeguard and swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.Must be flexible with scheduling.Physical Demands: Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.Ability to see and hear individuals and alarms in pool/pool area.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.Ability to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention.All interested applicants are welcome to send in their resume.Job Type: Part-timeJob Location:Princeton, NJRequired education:High school or equivalentRequired experience:Swim Instructor: 2 yearsAquatics Supervisor: 1 year
