Aquatics Director – Dedham Health & Athletic Complex(Dedham, MA)
The Aquatics Director oversees the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a broad range of fun and stimulating aquatics programs for youth and adults. He or she leads and supervises the Aquatics Team Members and directly manages the Lifeguard and Swim Instruction staff. The Aquatics Director works with other directors and staff as needed, ensures member satisfaction and retention, and provides a safe and clean environment at all times. The ideal candidate has a degree in Exercise Science or a related field; three to five years of previous experience in a similar position with management or supervisory responsibilities; current certifications as a Pool Operator and Water Safety Instructor; and must be certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED. He or she must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, marketing experience (new member recruitment and referral generation), strong supervisory and management skills with high customer service expectations, and good computer and Microsoft Office skills. Current Lifeguard certification preferred.RESPONSIBILITIESDevelops, documents, and maintains a variety of aquatics programs and activitiesEstablishes and maintains procedures and standards that ensure the health and safety of everyoneGuarantees customer satisfaction in all areasManages and mentors staff, including recruiting/hiring/training of all employees, overseeing HR/payroll, managing issues of discipline/termination, ensuring ongoing training/education, etc. Maintains facility and equipment in safe and clean condition Oversees all required documentation and administrative activities, including reports and customer records Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS College degree in Exercise Science or related field Certified as a Pool Operator and Water Safety Instructor Three to five years of progressive and relevant experience
Experience in supervising and managing staffCurrent CPR, First Aid, and AED certificationsKnowledge of budgeting, forecasting, staffing, and schedulingMarketing experience (member generation and referrals)Strong leadership and motivational skills
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stressExcellent organization and multi-tasking skills
Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite
Certification as a Lifeguard a plus
